Havre Artist Recognized for Excellence
Allow me to introduce you to the work of Don Greytak, an artist and pencil illustrator from Havre, Montana. Don is Montana’s own Norman Rockwell. His intricate drawings and illustrations depict rural Montana life in such a wonderful way and are real sights to behold.
I don’t know how many people outside of Montana know about Don’s work, but finally this year he received much deserved recognition. The Governor’s Arts Awards, presented by the Montana Arts Council, recognized Don along with five other Montana artists. Presented every two years, the Governor’s Arts Awards recognized Don’s exemplary achievements and artistic excellence to the arts in Montana.
Many of you who follow me because you love rural life. Well, you will then surely love traipsing through Don’s collection. Don has been making illustrations about rural Montana culture from his home and studio in Havre, Montana long before I even knew where Havre was on a map. And his work truly shows his fondness for small town life, rural western lifestyle, and the Hi-Line–the northern lip of Montana.
Be sure to take a closer look at his collection. It would be impossible for you to walk away without being impressed: https://dongreytak.com/
Oh, and if you are ever in Havre, be sure to see his collection in person at the Old Library Gallery, too.
